Condition for Achieving Flow

Eliminate Distractions

It's more difficult to experience flow if there are things in your environment competing for your attention. Try reducing distractions so you can fully focus on the task at hand. You might wear noise-canceling headphones, turn off or put away your phone, and so on.

Add an Element of Challenge

"Flow also happens when a person's skills are fully involved in overcoming a challenge that is just about manageable, so it acts as a magnet for learning new skills and increasing challenges," "If challenges are too low, one gets back to flow by increasing them. If challenges are too great, one can return to the flow state by learning new skills."

Imagine for a moment that you are running a race. Your attention is focused on the movements of your body, the power of your muscles, the force of your lungs, and the feel of the street beneath your feet. You are living in the moment, utterly absorbed in the present activity. Time seems to fall away. You are tired, but you barely notice. This is an example of a flow state.

In this article, learn more about how flow states are defined and some of the major benefits of experiencing flow. Also, explore some of the characteristics of this state and what you can do to improve your chances of reaching flow.

 * Knowing what to do

* Knowing how to do it

* Knowing how well you are doing

* Knowing where to go (where navigation is involved)

* Perceiving significant challenges perceiving significant skills

* Being free from distractions

Choose a difficult task (but not too difficult!)

Stop giving people power over you

Any time you allow someone to have a negative influence over the way you think, feel, or behave, you give them power over you.

Sometimes it's subtle. Maybe you change the way you act around certain people because you want to please them, but it doesn't impact your life too much.

Or maybe it's major. Perhaps you allow a loved one's harsh criticism to take a serious toll on your well-being.

Either way, giving away your personal power drains you of the mental strength you need to be your best. Here are 10 ways to stop giving people power over you.

  • When someone has a negative influence over any aspect of your life, you're giving them power over you - and that can hold you back.
  • Instead, establish healthy boundaries with the people around you - and assume responsibility for your emotions, not theirs.
  • Follow your values and realize that you're always making choices - you should be doing things for you, and not to prove yourself to other people.
  • Don't spend your time complaining or thinking about bad interactions.

 Surround yourself with good friends.

Friends are the best medicine, there for confiding worries over a good chat, sharing stories that brighten your da, getting advice, having fun, dreaming.... in other words, living.

Smile.

A cheerful attitude is not relaxing----it also helps make friends, it's good to recognize the things that aren't so great, but we should never forget what a privilege it is to be in the here and now in a world so full of possibilities.

Set clear and measurable goals

Years ago, I decided to leave a job where I’d spent 15 years, simply because I wasn’t happy.

The challenge? I had no plan for what was next.

All I knew was that I couldn’t continue on that path.

I took the leap into the unknown. Granted, I negotiated my severance first—I was bold, not reckless.

Even though this was the right choice for me at the time, clarity about where I wanted to go could have saved me from much anxiety and stress.

As obvious as it might sound, it’s worth mentioning that setting goals is fundamental for an effective life plan.

They guide your daily decisions, helping you navigate the bigger picture.

Start by asking what you truly desire in every life facet: love, work, health, spirituality, and more.

 Stay Active; don't retire.

Those who give up the things they love doing and do well lose their purpose in life.
Thats why it's so important to keep doing things of value, making progress, bringing beauty or utility toothers, helping out and shaping the world around you, even after your "official" professional activity has ended.

Take it slow.

Being in hurry is inversely proportional to quality of life. As the old saying goes,
"Walk slowly and you'll go far,"

When we leave urgency behind, life and time take on new meaning.
